What is AppointWomen?

AppointWomen is an on-line registration database that gives women an opportunity to be considered for appointment to a variety of Australian Government boards and other decision-making bodies.

All women who register with AppointWomen complete a resume that enables comprehensive and accurate searches of their skills and experience to be made by the Office for Women when Australian Government departments request nominees for board vacancies.

By completing your AppointWomen resume you are consenting to your contact information and resume being provided to a requesting department without any further consultation.

The Office for Women provides Australian Government departments with potential nominees from AppointWomen who meet the identified criteria.  The Office for Women, on behalf of a requesting department, may seek further information from you.

The requesting Australian Government department then processes nominees as appropriate.

AppointWomen provides Australian Government departments with a source of women who are keen and able to make a difference in government decision-making processes.

If you are an Australian Government department seeking nominations for an Australian Government board appointment or other decision-making body, then AppointWomen may have the person you need.  The skills and experience of AppointWomen registrants are numerous and diverse and cover many sectors including technology, industry, business and law, through to the community, arts and culture.

In addition to AppointWomen registrants, Australian Government departments also have access through the AppointWomen system to women registered with the privately run Women on Boards.  Widening the field of choice for Australian Government departments will help to support the government’s commitment and increase the opportunity for women to have their voice in the decision-making process.

AppointWomen is managed by the Australian Government Office for Women, within the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
